The Sea Land Air Military Research initiative (SLAMR)

Established by the Naval Postgraduate School to facilitate a nationwide response to our generation’s Sputnik-moment, The Sea Land Air Military Research Initiative (SLAMR) assists participants with:  

  • Delivering all-domain solutions faster and with fewer resources using our all-domain R&D environment.
  • Exploring and establishing new partnerships; and
  • Putting their vision and technologies in front of more people – faster.

Event Description:

Join us for a tour of the Sea Land Air Military Research (theSLAMR) facilities at the Naval postgraduate School in Monterey. The afternoon will include a site tour, educational presentations from NPS Program Directors of theSLAMR, CRUSER and JIFX. There will be static displays of various research platforms and information tables from regional partners. If we are lucky there will even be active technology demonstrations using theSLAMR testbed. Post-event social hour at the Dust Bowl Brewing Company.

UC Monterey Bay Education Science & Technology (UC MBEST) Center

UC MBEST is a regional economic development opportunity on former Fort Ord lands now owned by UC Santa Cruz, within the jurisdictional boundaries of the City of Marina and the County of Monterey.

The UC MBEST vision is focused on developing collaborative research-business opportunities for the Monterey Bay Region. The central component of this vision is the development of a new research and technology center, as well as other job-generating uses, on approximately 400 acres of land acquired by the University of California on the former Fort Ord.

Convening at the UC Santa Cruz, Monterey Bay Education Science & Technology Center (UCMBEST). Learn about efforts underway to energize build-out of a long-planned research & development-focused innovation district on the former Fort Ord property. Receive presentations from leading UCSC researchers in robotics, automation and navigation systems. Learn about the CITRIS Insititute for Drone Education and Research (CIDER). Have a facilities tour with Joby Aviation team members to learn about their exciting planned future at the Marina Airport. Post-event social hour at the General.
