Mothusi Pahl
Mothusi Pahl is Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of California at Santa Cruz; Chief Commercial Officer at private equity firm B3\; and President of UAV Recon, a Texas-based software and services company focused on electrical infrastructure inspection. The cofounder of several startups in demand-side management, hybrid power systems, and data contextualization, Mothusi specializes in the commercialization of new technology in heavy industry including: Energy, Power Generation, Utilities, Infrastructure, Mining, and Automotive. Mothusi formerly spent five years at Cummins Inc (NYSE: CMI) as part of the Corporate Strategy and Business Development team and later as the executive in charge of the Power Generation division for 11 countries in southern Africa. A former investment banker (NASDAQ: ZION), Mothusi has led hardware and software introduction for companies and projects tied to top research institutions like Lawrence Berkeley National Labs and private equity groups including TPG & Ares. An alumnus and mentor at two of the top technology accelerators in the world (StartX -Stanford University and Alchemist Accelerator -GE/Khosla), Mothusi is also a member of the National Science Foundation’s SBIR review committee for advanced Applied Research in Energy & Power Technologies. A former Grand Canyon river guide, Mothusi studied at Beijing University and UC Santa Cruz; he holds an MBA from Yale with distinctions in Environmental & Land Use Law.
