Nicholas Flom is an aviation professional who has been focusing on the UAS industry for the past 15 years. Mr. Flom spent the early part of his aviation career flight instructing, flight management, and obtaining a Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate for a start-up company to provide on-demand air taxi operations. During this time Mr. Flom acquired over 4,000 flight hours and earned his Airline Transport Pilot certificate.
Mr. Flom is currently the UAS Account & Portfolio Director for Thales USA where he is responsible for strategic UAS account integration. This role capitalizes on Mr. Flom’s experience as the market lead for state and local governments focused on AAM for Deloitte Consulting. Mr. Flom was previously the Executive Director of the Northern Plains UAS Test Site where he was responsible for Vantis, the state of North Dakota’s statewide beyond visual line of sight initiative. Mr. Flom has also been instrumental in the advancement of beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) operations for multiple users and use cases and participated on the FAA’s BVLOS Aviation Rulemaking Committee.
